Nature of services
Counseling is a collaborative process. Together with your counselor you identify goals, explore relevant history and patterns, and work on skills or changes that support those goals. Approaches are evidence-informed and adapted to your situation.
Benefits and risks
Many people experience improved coping, clearer understanding of themselves, and better relationships. Counseling can also involve discussing uncomfortable material, and you may temporarily feel more distressed. Outcomes vary and cannot be guaranteed. You may stop at any time.
Confidentiality and its limits
Information shared in sessions is confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law, including:
- Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult.
- A serious and imminent threat of harm to you or an identifiable other person.
- A valid court order or other legal requirement.
- Where you provide written authorization to release information.
Appointments and fees
Session length, frequency, and fees are agreed in advance and listed on the Fees & Payment page. Cancellation and no-show terms apply to all scheduled appointments.
Records
Your counselor maintains a clinical record as required by professional standards and state law. You may request access to your record, subject to limited exceptions described in the Notice of Privacy Practices.
Communication between sessions
Email, text, and website forms are not secure for clinical content and are not monitored outside office hours. Use them only for scheduling and administrative matters.
Emergencies
This practice does not provide emergency or on-call crisis coverage. In an emergency call 911 or call or text 988.
Your rights
- Ask questions about methods, goals, and alternatives at any time.
- Request a referral to another provider.
